Rangers' Offense Gone, But Shannon Stone Not Forgotten
So the Rangers exploded for 12 runs Friday night thanks to Nelson Cruz' eight RBI. On Saturday they authored a dramatic 9th-innning comeback, powered by three consecutive bunts and a walk-off hit by Michael Young.
So surely Sunday night would provide some thrills. Some entertainment. Some drama. At least some runs?
Nope. A game that started in record 105-degree heat ended with Texas wilting, being shut out for the second time in four games. Blanked by Jered Weaver is one thing.
But by Brett Cecil? Against Toronto's lefty Texas managed just four singles and failed to push a runner past second base.

It was an ugly ending to a weekend in which the Rangers also lost All-Star third baseman Adrian Beltre to a hamstring injury.
But there is good news concerning a very bad event.
At last night's game noted Rangers' fan Jamey Newberg's annual outing raised $15,000 for the memorial fund of Shannon Stone, the Brownwood firefighter who tragically fell to his death while leaning over the outfield railing to catch a baseball tossed by Josh Hamilton on July 7. That, on the heels of Dallas' Only Daily beat writer Evan Grant raising $2,000 among his fans.
And last Friday night we did our best at 105.3 The Fan, raising almost $6,000 at our first annual softball charity game. My team -- the Olds -- wasn't victorious, but when you're able to put a smile on the faces of Stone's parents and raise a decent chunk of change it's easy to deem it a successful night.
