25 Done Right
Nine months from now, I'll be celebrating my 25th birthday, and you can bet I'll do it in style. Picture this: a round or two of bingo down at the local bingo hall, followed by some seriously delicious chips and salsa over at Chili's. And, to end the night right, I'll cuddle up to my cats on my couch and watch a little reality TV. Yessiree, that's the way to celebrate 25 years of life. But 25 years of children's theater, on the other hand, merits a whole other type of party, and trust that the Dallas Children's Theater is gonna do it up right for their 25th on Saturday. The Rosewood Center for Family Arts, 5938 Skillman St., will be rockin' from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday with a whole slew of family-friendly activities. Bring the kids for arts and crafts, cakewalks, raffles, a songwriting workshop taught by folk/pop duo Trout Fishing in America and performances from DCT's Teen Conservatory Improv troupe. The party's free, but there are fees for select activities: cakewalks are $1 per walk, raffle tickets are $5 each and the songwriting workshop is $25 (seating limited). Call 214-740-0051 or visit dct.org for more information.
Sat., May 16, 10 a.m.-2 p.m., 2009
