Kettle Art, artist Frank Campagna's Deep Ellum gallery, was born in November 2005. We weren't familiar with Kettle, save that Campagna is known far and wide for his commissioned portraits and murals on the side of Gypsy Tea Room and the Black Forest Theatre, so we did a little sniffing. On the gallery's Web site, Campagna comes right out with it and answers our burning question, "In defiance of everything I know about timing, combined with the current state of the Deep Ellum area, it just seemed like the right thing to do. Besides, a good challenge is always fun, so what can I say?" That's the spirit indeed. Now we patrons face the good challenge of finding parking in the D.E. as we venture out for the opening reception for 3, which features three pieces each by 33 artists, 8 p.m. Friday (the third day of the third month). Kettle Art is located at 2714 Elm St. Call 214-573-7622 or visit kettleart.com.
