You were terrified that you’d never again see a luck dragon on the big screen, and worried that The NeverEnding Story would be confined to the dusty recesses of your family's totally righteous and completely useless Betamax drawer. There it would be forced, sadly, to coexist for eternity sandwiched between Honey I Shrunk the Kids and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles II: Secret of the Ooze. That’s like seeing the Junkyard Dog signing autographs at a low-budget car show, or watching Biz Markie spin records at Club Applebee's. Those are the things that permanently break hearts. Texas Theatre understands that some films about magical books, runaway youths and flying furry dragons in a disintegrating world of literature are necessary and must be salvaged. So, they’re doing just that and screening the thing. Relive the mystery and reconnect with your youth on Friday, Saturday or Sunday as the vintage movie house at 231 W. Jefferson Blvd. shows The NeverEnding Story in 35mm. Saturday’s offering screens at 6 p.m. and tickets cost $10.50. Visit thetexastheatre.com.
Sat., March 23, 6 p.m., 2013
