A New Species Of Mouse Lemur? Thanks, Life.
If ever there were an example that you could, in fact, go to college, accidentally find your calling and change majors midstream without disaster, and with success, it is Mireya Mayor. The wildlife expert and television personality, who earned her Ph.D. doing research in the Madagascan wilds, admits she took her first anthropology course quite by accident when her desired women’s biology class was filled (she needed a science credit). Since then, she’s explored some of the most exotic corners of the world and even discovered a new species of mouse lemur -- which is, as you may have guessed, incredibly adorable. While you may recognize Mayor from her work as a National Geographic correspondent or from shows such as Expedition Africa and Wild Nights, she’s also known for her engaging writing (Pink Boots and a Machete) and speaking. The Brinker International Forum hosts her at 8 p.m. Monday at Winspear Opera House. Tickets start at $20. Visit attpac.org.
