A Play On Pixar

Ever since they put out Toy Story, the first all-CGI movie about a depressing nightmare world where toys come to life and live eternally, suffering the inevitable neglect of their child owners, Pixar has produced some of the most visually impressive children’s movies in history. Considering their prodigious talent for world building and visual gags, it’s not surprising the animation quality often overshadows the soundtracks and musical scores. Most people probably remember the Randy Newman music from Toy Story, but Pixar scores all of its films meticulously. The Dallas Symphony Orchestra will bring to life music from 13 different Pixar films, including Wall-E, The Incredibles and A Bug’s Life at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Meyerson Symphony Center, 2301 Flora St., with Thomas Wilkins conducting. Come before the show in your best Pixar cosplay to try and win fabulous prizes. Tickets start at $19. Visit dallassymphony.com.
