A Reel Angel
After hearing the tale of Gram Parsons being "laid to rest" in Joshua Tree National Monument (it's one of the best rock 'n' roll stories ever), I had to wonder if I had any friends loyal enough to steal my corpse. It also made me think of how people recuperating from minor surgeries involving morphine should not celebrate with a couple of tequila shooters. You know, just as a precautionary measure. Anyway, Parsons' death and related events may be interesting, but his life and music are also legendary, as evidenced in the 2004 documentary Fallen Angel: Gram Parsons. It features interviews with family and friends, including Emmylou Harris, Keith Richards and road manager (and apparent BFF) Phil Kaufman. See it as part of the Rock 'n' Reel 2007 film series presented by the AllGood Café and Video Association of Dallas 8 p.m. Wednesday at the AllGood, 2934 Main St. Admission is a donation to the VAD.
