He’s dropped from a helicopter to a submarine. He’s been trapped in Winona Ryder’s haunted house. He’s sweat through a shirt on screen due to humidity, and it wasn’t even icky. He’s provided narration for Wes Anderson—as well as a generation of kids with distant fathers but no sense of expiration when it comes to Halloween costumes. He was in that Lifetime Movie you don’t want to admit you watched (yes, with Nikki Reed). He has an SNL hosting rivalry with a real Jerk. He, like Jack Donaghy, is politically active, just not in the same way. At all. He is Alec Baldwin. More than even an acting legend—Glengarry Glen Ross secured that trajectory long ago—Baldwin is a pop culture icon of pursed lips, whispered sarcasm and perfect comedic timing. Even if he never landed on 30 Rock, he’d still be one of the best hosts to join the Not Ready For Prime Time Players. And he’s coming here. Baldwin speaks at 8 p.m. Friday, March 2 at the Winspear Opera House as the AT&T Performing Arts Center presents the event as part of the Brinker International Forum. Tickets start at $20.
