As a native New Mexican, the first questions I'm normally asked are, "So you can speak Spanish, right?" and "Were there really aliens in Roswell?" Get past the stereotypes and you'll find that New Mexico has a lot more to offer than alien paraphernalia and a name that resembles the country just south of the border. Ever heard of Georgia O'Keeffe? She was a renowned artist that lived and painted in northern New Mexico, giving it the name "O'Keeffe Country." Through August 6, as part of the New Mexico Workshop 15 exhibition, 13 students from Richland College will showcase photographs taken in the heart of Santa Fe, at locations like the Rio Grande Gorge Bridge, Echo Amphitheater and Ghost Ranch, and in a collection of other towns that highlight the "extraterrestrial" beauty found in the Land of Enchantment. For more information, contact Gallery Coordinator Randall Garrett at 972-238-6339. Gallery hours are 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Mondays through Fridays.
Mondays-Fridays, 11 a.m.-5 p.m. Starts: June 19. Continues through Aug. 6, 2009
