All That Glitters

Razzle Dazzle, the Dallas street festival celebrating Gay Pride Month – that's June – returns to the Oak Lawn area this year with vendors, food, booze, live music and none of the controversy over bare skin. Nope, that's the pride parade in September that had the brouhaha over how much clothing is enough. Razzle Dazzle is a venerable event began in 1979 and held every June — give or take eight years earlier this century — to benefit a variety of LGBT community organizations. It's a traveling fest that's been held downtown, in Fair Park, the West End and points in between, and it returns to the heart of Dallas gaydom on Cedar Springs Road at Throckmorton Street from 7 p.m. until 11:55 p.m. Saturday with free music from country singer Chaz Marie and DJ Ray Issac on an outdoor stage near Roundup Saloon, and a concert, dancing, etc. in a party pavilion behind S4 and Sue Ellens. Thea Austin, formerly of Snap! (“Rhythm Is A Dancer”) headlines there, with Jason Dottley, DaniElle DeLaite and more. Admission to the pavilion is $10, and it's 18 and up only. Visit for details and tickets.
