All the World’s A Stage
As our old pal Bill Shakespeare once said: “The play’s the thing.” He would know — the play certainly was his thing, thus ensuring that it became “the thing” that every high school English student plowed through, CliffsNotes in one hand and forehead clutched with the other. For many, it takes some distance from all that to really appreciate what the Bard has to offer — and if you’re finally ready to dip your toes back into Shakespeare, TeCo Theatrical Productions has just the lure for you. Their production of As You Like It is an abridged version of the beloved comedy, interspersed with jazz numbers, and featuring youth from their Teenagers and Theater program. They’ve livened up Shakespeare’s liveliest comedy, giving the play a few extra enticements for those of you still unwilling to forgive its creator for the iambic fits he caused you way back when. Snag a ticket for $10 in advance or $15 at the door and take in a performance at 7:30 p.m. Friday or at 3:30 p.m. Saturday and Sunday in the Bishop Arts Theatre Center, 215 S. Tyler St. Visit tecotheater.org.
Fri., April 18, 7:30 p.m.; Sundays, 2:30 p.m. Starts: April 18. Continues through April 20, 2014
