Were you ever looking forward to attending a talent show as an adult? Probably not. Did you ever think to yourself: "Man, I wish that just once there'd be a televised program that showcases my country's creativity, but also employs the entertainment expertise of David Hasselhoff as well as Sharon Osbourne. And maybe a cocky British dude just to balance out Shar's accent. And, OK fine, Howie Mandel can replace the Hoff when the time comes. He has proven himself in tense TV situations, after all." Again, guessing no. That's why it may seem strange that America's Got Talent is such a sensation. American Idol, America's Next Top Model, Project Runway--shows featuring specific talents make sense. They target a demographic and have experts in said demographics to make the heavy decisions. But AGT is a contest that's specifically non-specific. Aside from the singers and those with traditional talents, jugglers, gymnastic dancers, ventriloquists and others can all make it front of the judging panel...and, potentially, America, via television. So is it really a shock, or does it make perfect sense to provide the Everyman with an outlet that reaches all the other Everymen? Let the average American exhibit their talent (or lack thereof) in person when America's Got Talent hosts a live taping (yes, with all the judges and Nick Cannon) at 1 and 6 p.m. Thursday and Friday at the Music Hall at Fair Park. Thu., March 25, 1 & 6 p.m.; Fri., March 26, 1 & 6 p.m., 2010
