Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, as the old saying goes. Whoever said that conveniently forgot to mention that really sincere imitation can be downright creepy, though. At the top of that list: fat, sweaty Elvises clad in white leather. Further down the list is Led Zeppelin 2, the American doppelgangers of the legendary British rock band. In their favor, Led Zep 2 has the most important element, the famous hair, down pat. Singer Bruce Lamont flings around Robert Plant's long, wavy, blond locks, and guitarist Paul Kamp lets Jimmy Page's frizzy dark mane droop into his eyes. That should tell you how dedicated the group is to delivering precise renditions of Led Zep's music and stage antics. They aren't just a group of guys who formed a band during a collective midlife crisis; they have years of experience touring and performing with other acts. The group even toyed with the idea of forming a Black Sabbath tribute band before choosing to stick with holier houses. Catch Led Zeppelin 2's show Friday at the House of Blues, 2200 N. Lamar St. Tickets are $10 to $25. Call 214-978-BLUE or visit houseofblues.com.
