This has not been the best summer for the ladies, musically speaking. Not only was Lilith Fair totally lame, but it sold about four tickets and the Dallas date was canceled. The Hole tour was fun only if you like your former heroes hopped up on a double dose of crazy. And depending on where you stand on the whole Lady Gaga phenomenon, her mega-expensive stadium tour was either a symptom of everything that is wrong with music right now...or a concert that was frustratingly difficult to get tickets to. With the exception of some awesome local acts, the lack of women as show headliners the past few months has been a little discouraging. But that void is about to be filled in a big way when the House of Blues, 2200 North Lamar St., hosts the ladies of AC/Dshe and The Iron Maidens. Though it sounds like the most metal drag show ever, in fact this is a line-up of ladies who take a trip down the highway to hell with Bon Scott-era AC/DC classics. Their partners in crime, The Iron Maidens, represent the only all-female tribute to the legendary Iron Maiden. The amount of energy, sweat, and alcohol by volume at this show will more than make up for a summer that's been criminally light on girl power. The show starts at 9 p.m. and tickets may be purchased in advance for an affordable $13.50, or at the door for $15. Visit houseofblues.com for more information.
