TeCo Theatrical Productions opens its 2014-2015 season with Langston Hughes’ Black Nativity, a Gospel-style musical version of the classic Nativity story. TeCo’s adaptation features traditional Christmas hymns, holiday songs, and praise dance. Be prepared for the actors to surround you in the theatre, both filling the stage and the aisles—like Christmas music surround sound. So as lyrics from “Let It Snow” ring in your ears, let the magic of the holiday season fill you. Also, did you know that this play was one of the first African-American written plays to appear on Broadway? Check it out and experience a bit of American history. It opens at 7:30 p.m. Thursday and shows run through December 21 at Bishop Arts Theatre Center, 214 S. Tyler St. Tickets are $15 in advance, $20 at the door.
