Blame It On The Elevation
Lovers of foreign films fight an uphill battle in Dallas. Aside from a few trusty theaters that cater to our cravings, most screens are reserved for Hollywood blockbusters. On Monday, you’ll want to scoot to Oak Cliff to satisfy your urge because The Texas Theatre is the only spot showing the Greek film Alps. Directed by Yorgos Lanthimos, the film follows a group who “helps” mourners get over their loss by impersonating the dead. Lanthimos’ last film, Dogtooth, was a favorite of the Cannes Film Festival and nominated for an Academy Award for best foreign film. Also, it was a complete mindscrew. Expect nothing less from this release. Tickets are $9.25 for the 9:15 p.m. showing. The Texas Theatre is located at 231 W. Jefferson Blvd. in Oak Cliff.
