Breaking Even

"Listen to your imagination," says the Web page for the Dallas Symphony Orchestra, which features a photo of a face-lifted Kenny "The Gambler" Rogers, who will perform with the orchestra 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Meyerson Symphony Center, 2301 Flora St. Okey-dokey then, let's tune in and listen...Hmm. How odd, instead of Rogers crooning "Lucille," the sound of Pete Townshend's "Slit Skirts," the single from his LP All the Best Cowboys Have Chinese Eyes, is blasting. The imagination wires must be crossed. Let's give the ol' noggin a knock and retune. Whack...Huh? Why is Joan Rivers saying "Oh, puhleeze"? If you're of a certain age and a taste for sentimental quasi-country pop backed by the DSO, call 214-692-0203 or visit Tickets are $50 to $120. A bit pricey, perhaps, but if your mate likes Rogers, a little woodwind, brass, strings and timpani will guarantee that you'll get lucky tonight.
