Burlesque for the Rest of Us
Give yourself an early Christmas present and celebrate the holidays with a bevy of burlesque babes for a worthy cause. Texas’ biggest burlesque show, Viva Dallas Burlesque, is bringing back its annual Christmas showcase Festivus Follies for its fourth annual offering, just in time for the holidays. Starting at 8 p.m. Friday at the Lakewood Theater (1825 Abrams Road), the Christmas tradition features live performances by national acts the Burgundy Brixx and The Schlep Sisters. It also offers a look at local favorites Bedlam Dolls, Elle du Jour and Honey Hula-La doing their titillating tributes to every corner of the holidays from the sugar plum fairies dancing through your head to the dreidel, dreidel, dreidel that you made out of clay. All proceeds will go to Home for the Holidays Texas, a nonprofit organization that helps cover travel expenses for people diagnosed with AIDS. Visit lakewoodtheater.com. Tickets cost $20 to $180.
