Artist Campbell Bosworth lives and works in Marfa, Texas, mere miles from the Mexican border, so its no surprise hes inspired by the ongoing cartel war thats brought untold violence and drama to our states doorstep. Through paintings and carved wooden sculptures, he attempts to tackle the cartel narrative in his new exhibit, Plata O Plomo, which includes everything from outsized depictions of narco bling to carved rocket launchers and a bust of deceased Mexican drug lord Amado Carrillo, who died (though many claim the death was faked) in 1997 while having plastic surgery to change his identitymaybe he had just seen Face/Off. Plata O Plomo (Silver or Lead) hangs 1 to 5 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays through July 17 at the Webb Gallery, 209 W. Franklin St. in Waxahachie. An exhibit of new paintings by Esther Pearl Watsonbest known for her awesome Unlovable zine and UFO folk artaccompanies Bosworths work in the upstairs gallery.
