Calling For An Ass Whoop
There are certain sports moments from years past that, whenever I reflect on their outcomes, reduce me to an epic level of grumpiness. The Dallas Cowboys and the New York Giants (2008 playoffs, anyone?), basically anything and anyone associated with the New York Yankees (seriously, is there a snottier franchise in professional sports?), and the 2006 championship series between the Dallas Mavericks and the Miami Heat. Every time I recall that series--the abysmal officiating, the Heat coming from a two-game deficit to win the championship in Dallas and Shaq walking away with his fourth championship in six year--I come close to succumbing to a rage-induced blackout. In the years that have followed that epic disappointment, the Mavs have outperformed the Heat in almost every meeting they've had, which of course makes up for the fact that the Larry O'Brien Trophy went to Miami that year, just ask Mark Cuban. They will match up again at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday at American Airlines Center. Visit ticketmaster.com for tickets and more information.
