I love the Winter Olympics. My beef with them is that they only come around every four years. How could they think I can possibly wait that long before I see some more figure-skating dudes in spandex onesies? But, it's OK. Because now I can get my figure-skating fix and much more at the 2007 AT&T Winter Games of Texas. Not only will there be spandexness and figure-skating at these Games, but there will also be gymnastics (and baseball, basketball, flag football, soccer, ice hockey, cheerleading, volleyball, table tennis and wrestling). It's basically my dream Olympics configuration. What can I say? I heart watching super-skinny short people do tricks. You should really check out the "Celebration of Athletes" 6 p.m. this Saturday at the FISD Memorial Stadium, 6925 Stadium Lane (just north of downtown Frisco). The ceremony will include a parade of athletes, the lighting of a cauldron and a fireworks display. And after the parade, you can enjoy the bouncy castles (Sweeeet!), face-painting and a snow village. Bring any canned food item with you and the event is free. For a schedule of Winter Games events and more information, call 972-963-9225 or visit taaf.com/wintergames.asp.
Sat., Jan. 13, 6 p.m.
