Carpal Tunnel City
The World Series of Video Games, an annual summer championship for videogame addicts, returns to Dallas this weekend. As well as being a showcase for the latest gaming technology, the WSVG gives people a chance to show off their mad gaming skills. Last year, the highlight was a gaming stage where people went head to head playing games such as Gotham City Racing and Halo. This year, the big attraction is Guitar Hero II, the game in which you follow cues onscreen and press buttons on a controller shaped like a guitar. It's basically Dance Dance Revolution for those who don't want to move a whole lot. Guitar Hero has swept the nation in the past year; it's hard to miss as it's set up in nearly every electronics store in the country. One of the judges at the WSVG Guitar Hero competition is none other than Mötley Crüe's Vince Neil. Neil will help judge performers based on accuracy, difficulty and showmanship. Contestants will be strutting their stuff onstage for more than $60,000 in cash prizeswho knows, maybe Neil can give a few pointers? Give two thumbs up, down, left and right Thursday through Sunday at the Gaylord Texan Resort, 1501 Gaylord Trail in Grapevine. Admission is $10 at the door; $5 coupons available at thewsvg.com.
