What exactly makes one a "celebrity chef"? Are TV appearances required? Is a nation-sweeping catch-phrase a must? Does more than one city need to sing your praises? Or do you just have to be able to make such amazing food that when people eat it they swoon and spread the word far and wide? I suppose a celebrity chef could have one or all of those requirements, but I'm thinking--nay, hoping--the food-making part is the most important. Celebrating its 10th anniversary, the Stephan Pyles Celebrity Chef Dinner (held at Pyles' flagship, Stephan Pyles) offers a five-course meal prepared by many culinary standouts, from Stephan Pyles himself to Tracy Miller of Local to Jason Dady of San Antonio's The Lodge Restaurant of Castle Hills. A reception kicks off the night (featuring a dish by Stephan Pyles Culinary Scholarship recipient Thomas (Coner) Sargeant) at 6 p.m., and guests will also enjoy a luxury auction (to fund said scholarship). Reservations are required, and tickets are $125. Call 512-327-7555 or visit winefoodfoundation.org.
