The members of The Second City comedy troupe are kind of like the Texas Rangers of the comedy world, just paying their dues before moving on to bigger contracts and brighter things. To give you a taste of the group's influence, alumni of Second City stage shows and writing programs include Rick Moranis, John Candy, Tina Fey, Stephen Colbert, Halle Berry, Alan Arkin, Harold Ramis, Belushis John and Jim, Bill Murray, Andy Dick, Mike Myers, Steve Carrell, Eugene Levy, Bob Odenkirk and many more. So basically everyone that's been in a post-'75 comedy except Seth Rogen, Eddie Murphy and that kid that put his wiener in the pie. This week The Second City's touring company visits the Majestic Theatre, 1925 Elm St., for eight shows beginning Tuesday night. The current cast includes the comedically pedigreed Rob Belushi, along with guys named Charlie McCrackin, Homer Marrs and Shad Kunkle, who no doubt honed their comedic skills as a defense mechanism on elementary school playgrounds. Showtimes are 8 p.m. Tuesday through Sunday, November 16, with 2 p.m. matinees next Saturday and Sunday. Tickets are $14 to $65. Visit ticketmaster.com or dallassummermusicals.org for details.
Nov. 12-16, 8 p.m.; Sat., Nov. 15, 2 p.m.; Sun., Nov. 16, 2 p.m., 2008
