A holiday without a nutcracker is like a margarita without salt. You can deal with it, but there's just something missing. Lucky for all of us, the Dallas Arboretum celebrates the oddly cute wooden soldiers by the hundreds. Nutcrackers in all shapes, sizes and themes are on display at the Historic DeGolyer Estate. Plus, the Arboretum is a-bloom with seasonal flowers, appearances by Frosty and Rudolph, photo opportunities with Santa, and activities such as craft-making, story time and horse-drawn carriage rides. You can practice your charm school etiquette at the annual Holiday Tea (reservations required), and good times will be had with ornament decorating and gingerbread house building. To check out the nutcrackers, take one of several daily tours. Just watch your fingers because those little buggers will bite. Holiday at the Arboretum runs through December 31. General admission is $8 for adults. For daily events, visit DallasArboretum.org.
