Shaquille O’Neal is a funny guy. And we’re not just talking about his inadvertent comedy, such as his infamous response when asked if he visited the Parthenon while in Athens (“I don’t know. I can’t really remember the names of all the clubs we went to.”) or his infamously bad free-throw shooting (.527 career average). The same mix of goofiness and good-natured shit-talking that made him a great interview during his playing days has served him well in off-seasons and now in retirement, as his Shaq Entertainment brand has turned some of the people who make the big guy laugh, such as Kevin Hart, into household names. Shaquille O’Neal’s All-Star Comedy Jam makes its only Dallas-area stop at Verizon Theatre, 1001 Performance Place in Grand Prairie, 8 p.m. Saturday. Performers include Michael Blackson, Gary Owen, Capone, Spinderella, host Corey Holcomb and “a special guest.” Hopefully it will be Shaq himself, here to trash Shawn Bradley one last time. Tickets ($35 to $55) and more are at 888-929-7849 or verizontheatre.com.
Sat., Feb. 11, 8 p.m., 2012
