News alert: There's a jazz scene in Dallas. It may be hard to find if you don't know where to look, but once you spot it, chances are you'll be sucked into a rich world of tunes all its own. And to help you spot that jazzy magic, look no further than local photographer Carl Sidle. He's the perfect guide to show you how vibrant the world of Dallas jazz can be, and he does it all without the smoked-filled clubs or be-bop background music through his stunning photography. Though it's difficult to truly appreciate jazz visually and without the aural stimulation, Sidle has done a first-rate job of representing the sounds and feel of this true American genre in his current exhibition, Jazz is ... A 25 Year photographic look at the Dallas Jazz Scene, which is on display now through October 1 at the South Dallas Cultural Center, 3400 South Fitzhugh.
