Cussin' Right at You
Clive Cussler is one of those names that just about everyone is familiar with, whether or not you're a fan of his work. He has written a few dozen adventure novels, and you'd be hard pressed to walk into any airport newsstand and not find one of his titles beckoning you for a quick in-flight read. His writings fit in neatly with the likes of Tom Clancy and Michael Crichton, though his film adaptation success is disappointing in comparison (did anyone actually see Sahara?), and the man keeps pumping them out for fans everywhere. A mainstay in the world of techno-thrillers, Cussler brings us his newest novel, The Chase, taking his turn at tackling the historical thriller genre. A departure from his usual fare, the self-proclaimed "Grandmaster of Adventure" sets up his manhunt for the "Butcher Bandit" in turn-of-the-century San Francisco, and though the time and people are different, you can be confident that it'll read like classic Cussler. Cussler will discuss and sign The Chase at 2 p.m. on Saturday at the Preston and Royal Borders, 10720 Preston Road. Call 214-363-1977 or visit bordersstores.com.
