What if you could see the mental plan for Van Gogh's "Sunflowers"? Or a start-to-finish of Picasso's Blue Period? The notes, snapshots and sketches Hemingway used to create The Sun Also Rises? These three legendary artists and many others used and still use Moleskine journals to chart, graph, lament and celebrate their creative progress. Imagine owning a tangible artistic plan for a work, or works, of art (and sometimes, failures). It would be to possess a treasure map of sorts for a journey that could only truly be charted by one person. Fifteen local artists have tracked the drawings, paintings, photography and/or lyrics of their "creative navigation" in a Moleskine journal, to be auctioned with other artists' original pieces at Art Conspiracy's 2nd Annual SEED fund-raiser. Since 2005, Art Conspiracy has been uniting local artists and hosting forums around town that spotlight diverse viewpoints and amplify new voices. The SEED fund-raiser brings in AC's operating cash, so everyone needs to get off the couch and bring $5 for cover and mega bidding dinero 8 p.m. Saturday to Sons of Hermann Hall. Rob and Rob are back as the audacious auctioneers, and Matthew and The Arrogant Sea, Beauxregard, Spector 45 and Pet Hospital will channel the live music. Sons is located at 3414 Elm St. For more information e-mail [email protected] or call 214-794-3510.
