Do You Think Mum Will Be Mad?
As an only child, I never really found myself getting into any kind of precarious situation. Most of my young life consisted of playing with Hot Wheels (Barbie was weird), biking around the neighborhood and climbing trees. Well, there was that one time I found that old wooden storage closet--I think it's called a wardrobe--and stumbled into a foreign land where I had to fight a battle of good versus evil. Or maybe I read that. Yes, this is actually the plot of The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe, the first book by C.S. Lewis in his collection The Chronicles of Narnia. During World War II, four children are sent to live in the country to escape the dangers of air raids in London, and they discover talking animals and mythical creatures, who may soon be overtaken by the evil queen. With the help of Aslan, a huge, friendly lion, they manage to end the spell of everlasting winter and save the day. You and your kids can watch the brave foursome as they battle forces of evil and show that courage really pays off. Follow the adventure of Peter, Susan, Edmund and Lucy at the Dallas Children's Theater from Friday through April 25. For more showtimes and ticket info, call 214-740-0051 or visit dct.org.
