Doesn't Grow On Trees
Old Red's getting into the spirit of things, though they're doing it a little late by modern standards. After all, everybody else had their halls decked the day before Halloween. Better late than never as they always say--of course, we don't know who they are exactly, but we're told they are very important people. Old Red Museum (the red brick building, formerly the Dallas County Courthouse) is beginning their holiday festivities with an exhibit entitled Deck the Halls composed of 18 fir trees (the tree kinddont get all excited, PETAthough I guess you environmentalists can feel free to be upset) on display in the Museum's Special Exhibit Gallery. Each tree will be decorated by the volunteers and staff of a local nonprofit organization. Visitors vote for their favorite tree by dropping envelopes of money in that tree's box. The boxes will be tallied and the winner declared when the exhibit closes January 11, 2009, and the funds raised go to charity. Old Red Museum is located at 100 S. Houston St., Dallas. Their hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. seven days a week. Tickets are $5 to $8. Call 214-745-1100 or visit oldred.org.
