Don't Have A Cow, Bard
Shakespeare is for suckers. Sure, he (or whoever actually wrote all of those plays) played a vital role in language as we know it, but we’re fairly certain that our high school curricula was inundated with Shakespeare because school district leaders are dicks. What they should have done was send us all to see MacHomer. Giving new blood to the bloodiest of them all, Rick Miller’s international hit MacHomer is an adaptation we can all get behind. Channeling Homer, Marge, Mr. Burns and dozens of other beloved characters from The Simpsons, Miller turns the cursed Scottish play into a multimedia comedy that would most likely piss off dear dead William, but it will hilariously entertain Shakespeare appreciators and detractors alike. Laugh your theater-going ass off at this one-night-only performance of MacHomer at 8 p.m. Thursday, presented by the AT&T Performing Arts Center at the Winspear Opera House, 2403 Flora St. Tickets are $35.
