Double-Down On Beano
Sometimes we don’t have to look far to find reasons to get super indulgent. Just finished a big project at work? Let’s eat some Nutella straight from the jar. Successfully ran a 5K without vomiting more than once? Order a couple baskets of potato skins and then dump them onto a cheese pizza. Managed to pay all your bills on time? Break out the six-pack of Champagne. But it’s even better when we can gorge and booze all afternoon and know that we’re doing it for a good cause. And just in time for some crisp weather is the Second Annual Chili Cookoff benefiting 2ndSaturday, a Habitat for Humanity-esque group based out of West Dallas. From 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. at Chicken Scratch and The Foundry, 2303 Pittman St., teams of one to three people will compete to see who can stew the best meat. Attendance is $20, though free to competitors. The top five teams will all win prizes. To see if there’s still room to register, email firstname.lastname@example.org.
