This weekend, Dallas Blooms starts at the Arboretum. And you're so going. The festival features more than 400,000 (I can't tell you exactly how many because that's as high as I can count) bulbs. There will be tulips, daffodils and azaleas, and since this year's theme is "Flower Power," you can bet there'll be a ton of pansies there too. There will also be a flower-topped VW Bug, a big butterfly design, topiaries made out of tabs of LSD, moms trying to fit into their old bell-bottomed jeans and failing miserably, and lots of hippies asking you for weed and then making jokes about how they didn't mean weed like weeds in a garden—they meant grass—and then laughing even more at that. So, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, get your hippie on and go see Dallas Blooms at the Dallas Arboretum and Botanical Garden, 8525 Garland Road. Can't make it this weekend? Don't worry—the festival is open daily through April 15. Tickets are $8 for adults, $7 for seniors 65 and older, $5 for children 3 to 12 and zero dollars for Arboretum members and kids 2 and under. That was pretty cool.
