Flying Lies

When I read that Texas Discovery Gardens was hosting an event called Flying Wild: Songbirds to Raptors, I nearly fainted out of excitement. Finally, Michael Crichton's dream of a dinosaur theme park had come true! And it wasn't on an island off the coast of Costa Rica! It was in Fair Park! The velociraptors had been cloned and were ready to devour chirping songbirds for our viewing pleasure! But then, like a tropical storm knocking out power to electric fences, reality had to go and ruin my dinosaur fun. According to the press release, these raptors weren't the kind that could kill Samuel L. Jackson. But they are the kind that can hunt smaller animals, and they are the evolutionary descendants of dinosaurs, so the owls, hawks and falcons on hand should be more than enough to entertain you and yours Saturday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Texas Discovery Gardens, 3601 Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. in Fair Park. Tickets are $3 for adults, $2 for seniors and $1.50 for children ages 3 to 11. Children under 3 will presumably be fed to the raptors (That's why they get in for free). Call 214-428-7476 or visit texasdiscoverygardens.org.
Sat., March 18, 10 a.m.-1 p.m.
