Open your pantry or refrigerator. Pick up a fruit or vegetable, a jar of honey, or a block of cheese. Without looking at the label, quick, where was that item grown or produced? Who planted it? How did it get to the store where you bought it? OK -- take a look. Your honey may be from Argentina, your tomatoes may be from Mexico, and your cheese may say "Product of Spain," but it's unlikely that the label will have further information about how your food was grown, harvested, processed and transported. If you're ready to know more about where your food comes from and how to find and support North Texas food producers, join the Chefs for Farmers dinner, an event that showcases local chefs and local food. Proceeds benefit The Family Place, which helps victims of domestic violence. The cafeteria-style meal lets participants sample two gourmet dishes from each chef while enjoying music from DJs Jennifer Miller and Paul Paredes beginning at 4 p.m. Sunday at Highland Park Cafeteria, 1200 N.
