Gardening for Chicks
If Neil Strauss ever planned to pen a sequel to The Game, the "pick up girls' manifesto, he'd probably suggest a floral show as a wonderful place to sweet-talk (read: lie) your way into a woman's heart. Do a little Googling beforehand (you can appear knowledgeable about tulips, daisies and begonias) and all sorts of women will be drawn to your sensitive side. It's all a game, of course, but there are graver sins in the world than pretending to have feelings. So, if you're looking for a date or, alternately, just a pleasant way to spend a spring day in North Texas, head to Dallas Blooms at the Dallas Arboretum, the largest outdoor floral festival in the Southwest. This year's theme, the Eiffel Flower, will feature 400,000 bulbs in bloom and a 15-foot replica of the Eiffel Tower atop a 5-foot topiary filled with thousands of flowers. OK, guys, we know this is the exact opposite of watching SportsCenter, but do it for the game. Dallas Blooms runs March 10 through April 17 at 8525 Garland Road. Admission is $5 to $8; parking is $5 per car. For details and a schedule of special events, call 214-515-6500 or visit dallasarboretum.org.
