If I wake up after a dreamless night, I usually don't worry about plummeting to a premature death. I brush my teeth and start my day. Not so for mad scientist Krank of The City of Lost Children, who kidnaps little ones and feeds on their dreams to sustain his own life. It's a crazy French film from the twisted heads of Marc Caro and Jean-Pierre Jeunet (before he went soft and made Amelie), and one of those '90s cult classics that everyone is socially obligated to see at some point--you have to see it to believe it. Not for the creepy story in which Ron Perlman and a little girl set out to save his abducted kid brother or even for the talking brain in a box, but for the awesomely bizarre visuals. Roger Ebert called it the kind of movie hippies would have gotten high and laid down to watch. You can do even better than that with a LoveSac at the midnight screenings this Friday and Saturday at the Inwood Theatre, 5458 W. Lovers Lane. Call 214-764-9106 or visit landmarktheatres.com.
