Grapevine’s Runway Theatre picked an unconventional opening for its 30th season. Zombie Prom isn’t your typical off-Broadway, boy-meets-girl musical, unless your definition of “typical stage romance” involves a nuclear power plant suicide mixed with zombie song and dance numbers. Based on a story by John Dempsey and Hugh Murphy, Zombie Prom takes all things charming and adorable about 1950s nuclear fear, mixes in some cues from high school musicals (think John Travolta, not Zac Efron) and shakes it all up with some undead action. The end result is a zany evening of entertainment set to tunes you can’t ignore. Grab your loved ones and prepare for Zombie Prom, running through October 28. Performances are Fridays through Sundays at Runway Theatre, 215 North Dooley St. in Grapevine. Tickets cost $12 to $15. Call 817-448-4842 or visit runwaytheatre.com.
Fridays-Sundays. Starts: Oct. 21. Continues through Oct. 28, 2012
