He’s My Tolkien Little Friend
Another Hobbit movie means Tolkien-heads will emerge from their Dallas shires to see the latest installation of this quest. The Alamo Drafthouse in Richardson couldn’t resist the chance to offer fans the ultimate Hobbit experience before the premiere of Peter Jackson’s next big-screen J.R.R. Tolkien adventure. This time, the Drafthouse is planning a special screening experience at 7 p.m. Thursday with a live performance from a quartet of the Richardson Symphony Orchestra performing songs from the movie’s soundtracks before a special screening of The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey, complete with a shire-inspired menu of goodies like salted pork sandwiches, elven lembas bread and a special imperial IPA from New Zealand’s Moa Brewing Co. before the midnight premiere of The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug. The Alamo Drafthouse is located on 100 South Central Expressway in Richardson. The double feature costs $18 and doesn’t include food. Visit drafthouse.com/dfw.
