Into the Woods
Henry David Thoreau's Walden was published way back in 1854, yet it continues to inspire readers, environmentalists and thinkers over 150 years later with its tale of simple living and the beauty of nature. Dallas photographer Scot Miller had the honor of taking photographs of the Walden Woods (located in Massachusetts) for the 150th Anniversary version of the classic, published in 2004, as well as other works by Thoreau and an upcoming reissue of John Muir's classic My First Summer in the Sierra. Thoroughly Thoreau by Scot Miller: Photographs from Walden, Cape Cod & the Maine Woods, a new exhibit at Sun to Moon Gallery, collects many of Miller's large format prints, sales of which will benefit the Walden Woods Project, a nonprofit organization founded by Don Henley 20 years ago--after the boys of summer have gone, it seems the only logical thing to do is retreat into the woods for a period of introspection...(rimshot). Thoroughly Thoreau hangs 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursdays through Saturdays (and by appointment) at the gallery, 1515 Levee St. Call 214-745-1199 or visit suntonmoon.com.
Thursdays-Saturdays, 11 a.m.-5 p.m. Starts: Sept. 16. Continues through Oct. 23, 2010
