CentralTrak is always cooking up something tasty, but tonight the college offshoot art incubator serves up something peculiar: a pop-up arcade. (Don’t worry, we’ll get back to the art angle in a quick.) The one-night program is called Tiny Thumbs, a collection of game design presented and made by students of UT Dallas and curated by faculty member Kyle Kondas. Often we consider gaming to be raw entertainment, or cast it off as easily digestible data meant to occupy our minds while at rest. Tiny Thumbs wants to challenge that by presenting programs designed as “indie” and “art” games, leaving you, the viewer to stare down the barrel and consider these offerings as a 21st-century art form. It’s fun. It’s exciting. It’s exactly what you wished would happen Saturday night. This free program runs from 6 to 10 at CentralTrak (800 Exposition Ave.). Visit centraltrak.net/events.
