Anymore, we celebrate a gallery, or a venue even, for making it longer than a year. Three is amazing. Ten is unheard of. For such an art-oriented city, we find it hard to keep awesome galleries thriving and available for the ample talent on our streets. But sometimes we get proof to the contrary. Proof that it can happen. A gallery can survive and grow and be as strong as ever 30 years down the line. Hell, stronger. Better. Kinda like when you hit your 30th birthday and realize now the party really starts. 500X Gallery has been celebrating three decades of amazing art with Your Favorite Artist Was a Member: 30 Years at 500X. The final day of the exhibition is Sunday, so hurry it up to see works by former and current members such as Greg Metz, Diane Sikes, Mirka Hokkanen, Curtis Jackson Davis, Steve Cruz, Vance Wingate, Tom Sime, Randall Garrett, Nic Nicosia and others. Gallery hours are noon to 5 p.m. 500X is located at 500 Exposition Ave. (duh). Call 214-828-1111 or visit 500x.org.
Saturdays, Sundays, 12-5 p.m. Starts: Feb. 23. Continues through March 2, 2008
