Kid Kabuki

I reached the pinnacle of my acting career in eighth grade, when I was cast as the turtle in Urashima Taro, a Japanese fairy tale. Since this was Kabuki, traditional, stylized Japanese theater, all of us wore thick white makeup and elaborate costumes¬ómy best friend was "the four seasons," and she got to paint her face with leaves and sun rays and run around spreading springtime cheer. Sound like a good time? Introduce your kids to Kabuki 2 p.m. Saturday at Dallas Public Library's Children's Activity Series at NorthPark Center, on Level 1 between Nordstrom and Macy's. Elementary-aged children are welcome for stories and hands-on activities each Saturday through August, and preschool storytime is at 10:30 a.m. every Wednesday. Call 214-363-7441 or visit
