It's common to celebrate life changes in song--"Happy Birthday," "Hava Nagila," "We've Only Just Begun." So it only makes sense that someone (in this case, writer/producer Jeanie Linders) finally decided to put together songs about a big transition in a woman's life: menopause. Menopause the Musical has been running for nine years around the world--including shows in Australia, New Zealand, the United Kingdom, Israel, Italy and South Korea--and has been seen by more than 11 million people. Audience members love groovin' to parody songs such as "Puff, My God, I'm Draggin'" and "My Husband Sleeps Tonight," as performed by the characters of four women--an Iowa housewife, a soap star, a professional woman and an earth mother--who meet in a department store's lingerie section. For more songs about chocolate, middle-aged sex and hot flashes, check out the show while it's in Dallas Thursday through Sunday at the Majestic Theatre, 1925 Elm St. Evening performances happen daily at 8 p.m., with 2 p.m. matinees on Saturday and Sunday and a 5:30 p.m. matinee on Sunday. Tickets are $16 to $50. Tickets for groups of 10 or more are available by calling 888-686-8587, ext. 11. For more info, visit menopausethemusical.com.
