Do you consider Ferris Bueller's Day Off a classic movie? Anyone? Anyone? Anyone? We do. After all, like most of John Hughes' other movies, we've been quoting it for more than 20 years. It's a film cornerstone of a pop culture genre that features some put-upon teen rallying the troops and sticking it to the establishment in a harmless, yet totally radical adventure. Adults look foolish and the teenager, like, totally rules. Although we like to think we've outgrown such movies, we haven't. We'd still like to trade our commuter-friendly sedans for a day in a Ferrari. Luckily, since it's a classic film and all, others agree. The Belmont Hotel hosts a free poolside screening as part of its movie night series, with a cash bar and BYO-Blanket policy. According to the Belmont, this evening's selection honors working parents. Because even if we're Buellers at heart, most of us, like it or not, have more in common with the hated Principal Rooney. In other words, we're grown-ups, and we really need a day off. Ferris Bueller's Day Off screens at sundown Wednesday at the Belmont Hotel pool, 901 Fort Worth Ave. Doors open at 7 p.m. Admission is free. Call 214-393-2300 or visit belmontdallas.com.
