Let’s Go Arting
Gallery openings in Dallas can cause palpitations. With each space offering up a new collection, you’re forced to whittle down your path to several must-see shows. Saturday is that night, and we’ve picked through the lot and found three openings that you should visit during the magical free wine window. The Project Space at Conduit (1626 Hi Line Drive) is always an adventurous endeavor, and during Saturday’s opening night it becomes even more intimate as local two-man team and Dallas Observer Mastermind winners Chuck and George take over. If you attended our Artopia event in January (nod), you got some foreshadowing for this show. The boys will recreate their famous home gallery complete with a living room installation in this experimental side space. See it from 6 to 8 p.m., and visit conduitgallery.com. Over at Red Arrow Contemporary (1130 Dragon St., Suite 110) you can browse tomorrow’s talent today at The Best, a group show featuring one student from each of the local colleges’ MFA programs. Check out work by: Hiroko Kubo (TCU), Derek Rankins (UNT), Kim Brewer (TWU), Danielle Georgiou (UTD), Jesse England (UTA), Nicolas Cladis (UD) and Travis LaMothe (SMU). Check that one out from 6 to 9 p.m. before rolling over to the Art Walk Afterparty at Circuit 12 (1130 Dragon St., Suite 150). This bash is a two-fer, and a mandatory attend for fans of the space, which has been glowing like neon kryptonite against the Design District’s geriatric powers for one glorious year. To properly celebrate, it will floss talent from every coast. New York, California and even Miami get a nod at the group show Milestone #1. While the actual opening runs from 6 to 9 p.m., Circuit 12 keeps the doors open until midnight with music, a full bar and giveaways, which means someone’s finally responded to my letter writing campaign. Thanks, Circuit 12. Visit circuit12.com.
