Try saying this: orthotics, carbo loading and rock ’n’ roll. Hmm. Nope. Doesn’t have the same ring as sex, drugs and rock ’n’ roll, does it? Can’t really picture Keith Richards doing split laps or Jerry Lee Lewis running from anything, except maybe the law. But this is now, when we have the Rock ’n’ Roll Marathon Series, which comes to our city with the Dallas Rock ’n’ Roll Half Marathon. There’ll be 16 bands playing along the route, and American Authors will perform at a free concert at the finish line in Fair Park after the race. The race begins at City Hall Plaza at 8 a.m. Sunday, and runners are encouraged to park at Fair Park ($10) and ride a free shuttle to the start. The shuttles run 5:30 to 7 a.m. Registration is $150 for the half marathon and $175 for the two-person relay and can be completed in person at the Health & Fitness Expo, a free event at the Dallas Convention Center featuring more than 100 vendors, interactive running clinics and more. The expo is open to everyone and takes place noon to 6 p.m. Friday and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday.
