Madeline Won’t Crack Your Nuts
The yearly docket of holiday outings can be relatively predictable — that's why some call it tradition. Many families and holiday arts revelers flock to yet another production of the appropriately titled The Nutcracker, or to drown their credit card sorrows in peppermint mocha at Starbucks. For a young family with literature-loving little ones, it’s hard to imagine why a trip to the Dallas Children’s Theater wouldn’t be in order when Madeline’s Christmas is on the stage. Plus, that Madeline is one saucy little minx. Of course, Ludwig Bemelman’s most beloved character would likely let anyone who said such a thing to her face have it in an extremely Parisian way. Saucy. When a holiday trip to the zoo ends in a rash of sick kids, leaving only Madeline to go all Dr. Quinn on her group, things get downright magical. Don’t miss the supernatural sauciness of Madeline as the production runs until December 22 at the Dallas Children’s Theater. Remaining show times are 10 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday in the Baker Theater, 5839 Skillman St. Tickets are $20-$26. Visit dct.org or call 214-740-0051 for details and ticket information.
Wed., Dec. 21, 10 a.m. & 1:30 p.m.; Thu., Dec. 22, 10 a.m. & 1:30 p.m., 2011
