Motel at 6
What could be better to gear up for the New Year than a good ol' Bing Crosby/Fred Astaire movie like Holiday Inn? Irving Berlin wrote it (and its many classic songs), and you can watch over steak and wine under the Dallas sky as singer Jim Hardy (Crosby) and dancer Ted Hanover (Astaire) vie for the affections of Linda Mason (Marjorie Reynolds) in Hardy's supper club, the Holiday Inn. Singing, dancing and back-stabbing ensue as the stage is set for big, holiday-Hollywood-style numbers (including "White Christmas" and "Happy Holidays") complete with pristine snow and horse-drawn carriages. Watch the 1942 film about music, dancing and a classic love triangle on the big screen from an outdoor patio at one of Victory Park's restaurants amid the Miracle Dallas winter wonderland, the perfect setting to spend your Christmas money or splurge on that pair of heels you need for the next night's celebrations. This is the final film in the December AFI holiday series. Catch it 6 p.m. Sunday. Restaurants Nove Italiano, N9NE Steakhouse and Paciugo Gran Caffe will all have clear views or you can bring your own lawn chair. Reservations are recommended. Visit victorypark.com.
